The difficulty is that the city has introduced new legislation that makes it more difficult for us to properly evict the tenants and that has made it very expensive during this COVID embarge, according to Haglund.
Haglund cited one tenant in particular-KING 5 is not naming him-who allegedly hasn't cleaned up after his pets in months as an illustration. Haglund asserts that the tenant is likewise delinquent on payments. According to the landlord, up to 10% of his hundreds of tenants are behind on their payment.
Haglund stated, "We can't do anything about the fact that he hasn't paid rent in 18 months and that he owes us more than $25,000.
Eviction in Seattle have been suspended by Mayor Jenny Durkan's executive order at least through the end of september. According to the decree, residents may be evicted if there is a imminent threat to health and safety," but according to city officials, a court will have to make that determination in Haglund's tenant's instance Bryan stevens, the city of Seattle's director of media relations and permit coordination, stated that it would ultimately be up to the courts to decide if the scenario that Mr Haglund describe qualifies for that level of seriousness.
